RoboWAAM® - GMA/GMAX specification
GMA is a process where an electric arc forms between a continuously fed wire electrode and the
substrate, that melts both, allowing continuous deposition of metallic materials whilst applying shielding gas protects the freshly deposited bead.
PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) is a process where a plasma arc formed between a non-consumable
tungsten electrode and the substrate, it melts the filler wire, enabling precise deposition of material, while
the shielding gas protects the molten pool and ensures high-quality metallurgical bonding. The process
runs on DC (direct current), making it simple to control without complex waveforms; the wire is melted in
the low-energy part of the arc, resulting in a clean, spatter-free process with minimal fume.
